The digital art world is thriving as an innovative and creative space, but who is leading the way in the use of blockchain for digital art?

These are five of the most prominent artists doing exciting things with digital and NFT (Non-Fungible Token) art forms.

Beeple (Mike Winkelmann):
Most famous for the renowned “Everydays: The First 5000 Days”, Winkelmann sold the NFT of the piece for $69.3 million in 2021, making it the most expensive NFT ever. The American artist combines various media in his productions.

Pak:
An anonymous digital artist, Pak is well known for their experimental and innovative approach to creating digital art through blockchain use. Pak’s “Merge”, sold in mass units rather than as individual copies of an NFT, generated $91.8m in sales in 2021.

Larva Labs:
The tech company is famous for “CryptoPunks”, an NFT collection on the Ethereum blockchain comprised of 10,000 unique, algorithmically generated pixel-art characters. CryptoPunks had a significant impact on the NFT market and the modern crypto art movement.

Refik Anadol:
Focusing on data-driven machine learning algorithms to create immersive art, Anadol has pushed boundaries to establish himself as a leading digital artist by producing some of the most innovative multi-sensory pieces, that also utilize AI.

Sarah Friend:
Canadian artist and software developer Friend is deeply involved in a number of aspects of the blockchain community. She uses blockchain as a medium to create a range of artistic works and provoke conversation around technology and its impact.
